Getting to know Phil – Broker Relationship Manager

Phil Lees is the Broker Relationship Manager for Thurra and is responsible for account management, quotations and new business.

Phil has been with Thurra for nearly 3 years and in that time has been instrumental in the growth of the business and developing service levels to our much valued customers. Phil makes sure we respond to all enquiries in a timely and quality manner and leads our account management team.

We wanted to know a little bit more about him, so we caught him for a chat with some interesting results…

Q: How did you start your career?

A: I started my career as an engineering apprentice, but when the firm closed I got what I expected to be a temporary job at National Vulcan, where my father was a head office engineer. National Vulcan then became Royal & Sun Alliance Engineering, where I worked for 26 years.

 

Q: How long have you been involved in Insurance and Engineering Inspections?

A: I have been involved with Engineering Inspection and Insurance for 30 years this year.

 

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out in Engineering inspections?

A: This is a great industry to work in, dealing with all types of businesses. You learn something new every day.

 

Q: Your biggest achievement to date (outside of anything family related)?

A: Winning a Butlins talent show when I was 5 😊

 

Q: What was your secret to surviving the lockdowns?

A: Lockdown garden projects, walking and wine

 

Q: What do you think will change for you as an outcome of this experience?

A: I’ll appreciate travelling and holidays a lot more.

 

Q: What is the best part of working for Thurra?

A: Working with a team who are passionate about providing exceptional service to all our customers.

 

Q: What is the vision for your team at Thurra?

A: To continue to grow the business, developing the geographical area we cover to become a national inspections provider.
