Forklift Defect

This is a Fork Lift Anchor Pin which is not fully in place. If it were to fail, the forks would fall. This meant an immediate defect by our Engineer Surveyor.

The consequences of the forks falling when raised could be damage to goods and surroundings at best and loss of life at worst.

Forklifts and order pickers are responsible for 25% of all transport workplace accidents. You are required by law to ensure these are fit and safe for operation. The main requirements are in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). We can help you understand the LOLER guidance relating to the requirement for thorough examination and inspection of lifting equipment. In addition, you will need to make sure that operators carry out checks to lifting equipment and accessories before use.

Read our guide HERE on common defects of forklifts and what you can do to stay safe in between inspections.
