I would like to take this opportunity to reassure our customers that Thurra remains operational where and when we are required to ensure that national safety legislation is upheld and the safety of machinery, plant and equipment, and the health and welfare of operatives, personnel and the public is maintained.
We have been notified by our member body, SAFed (Safety Assessment Federation) and the HSE that we satisfy the requirement to categorise our Engineer Surveyors working in critical industries as ‘Key Workers’.
Whilst we coordinate our Engineer Surveyors, we will prioritise those jobs deemed to be high priority and critical for essential manufacturing and services to keep this country running. We recognise the importance of keeping lifting equipment, including passenger lifts safe for the use of the many people who rely on them as well as other equipment critical to the care and health sector, utilities, food chain, local authorities etc.
We will, at all times, follow Government guidelines as, no doubt they will continue to change over the coming days and weeks.
Like all businesses, we have never seen anything like this throughout our 27-year history, but we will navigate our way through this, whilst putting the safety of the people we serve and our own Engineer Surveyors first.
We have understandably seen a small increase in cancellations or postponement of our inspection visits and we urge owners to consider the implications of the continued use of equipment that has not been examined.
When arranging our visits, we would ask you to conduct a brief risk assessment before our arrival – particularly taking the now usual steps to ensure distancing whilst our team is onsite and that there are hand washing facilities available. Our Engineers will use disposable gloves, face masks and any other appropriate measures to minimise contact.
We value the relationships we have with our fantastic network of Brokers and customers and are here for you doing our job at a time you need us most and we couldn’t be more honoured to play our part in keeping Britain safe and well.
With very best wishes to you, your family and colleagues.
